MONIQUE POTTS

Monique Potts has been involved with horses her entire life. Born in Erie, Colorado, her early years were spent on a small acreage where her mother, JanieJill Tointon, bred, sold, and trained horses and gave riding lessons. 

Early on, Monique began attending and riding in Buck Brannaman clinics. She credits much of her horsemanship philosophy to Buck's influence throughout her life. “I am always willing to keep learning,”  Monique says. “To work with horses is to know that there is always something more to learn.” 

Monique has been teaching children and adults her techniques of natural horsemanship at the Diamond Double T Ranch since 2003. “Life at the ranch has given me the opportunity to see both the rewards and the challenges of life with horses. I try to see that my students learn the same. I love animals, and think that horses, in particular, have a lot to teach us about life in general.” The Diamond Double T is home to stallions, mares, and a new crop of babies each year. Students get the chance to see horses living as they are meant to live—together, in a herd, with lots of open space.
Monique’s passion for learning has taken her into the show world, where she is interested in showing cow horses as well as dressage. She recently purchased an amazing warmblood named Niguel and plans to take him up the levels and learn new riding techniques in the process. Monique also has plans to continue showing in the cowhorse and follow her dreams in the western world as well. 

In addition to teaching horsemanship, Monique is raising a son, Bryson, and daughter, Peyton. She is also recently engaged and planning a wedding.
